Chronic lower back pain is a problem for millions of drivers. The American Chiropractic Association estimates something like 31 million Americans suffer from it.
A typical factory-installed lumbar brace is built around a bulky, expensive metal plate resembling a rib cage. Our advanced lumbar support system — designed for aftermarket installation — is different. It uses inflatable bladders to help drivers achieve an anatomically correct seating posture. Improved posture makes driving safer and a lot more comfortable.
The butterfly shape of these ergonomic bladders are perfect for lumbar support while driving. They're manufactured from heavy duty OEM-grade polypropylene with heat-sealed twin seams. A polypropylene back support pad is more durable than a bladder made from standard grade rubber.
The adjustable, inflatable bladder is positioned between the seat cover and foam. Electronic inflate and release valves are operated by a tiny round switch. Push the button to pump it up. The bladder inflates to gently support vulnerable areas of the back.
We also sell and install adjustable, manually operated lumbar supports for cars. This simple, manually inflatable lower back support pad is inexpensive and reliable.
Installed under the seat cover, the bladder is inflated using a simple hand pump. Even fully dilated, the lumbar pad is all but invisible. Best of all, adjusting the pad for maximum comfort is as easy as squeezing a rubber ball.
Remember, maintaining correct posture while driving is important. Studies show incorrect posture can lead to excessive muscle activity in the lower back along with increased pressure on ligaments and discs. Without proper lumbar support you're asking for back trouble.
A number of variables determine the effectiveness of a lumbar support system, including materials and how well the system is integrated with the rest of the seat.
Our systems brace the 1) pelvis, 2) lumbar vertebrae, and 3) upper body. This is commonly referred to as the "Three-Fold Effect". When properly installed and adjusted, our lumbar support pillows allow a driver to attain the optimum seating position.
